Megaron — Athens Concert Hall, Nikos Skalkottas Hall
7-28 February 2015
Produced by: POLYPLANITY Productions / Megaron — Athens Concert Hall
The performance was repeated from October 30 to November 29, 2015.
Following the success of The Iliad, a performance that was met with rave reviews both in Greece and abroad, Stathis Livathinos and his team of collaborators now take on a flagship play of classical French theatre, Beaumarchais’ The Marriage of Figaro, in a new translation by Elsa Andrianou.
The Marriage of Figaro is among the most fascinating theatrical texts of the 18th century, both as a direct result of the Enlightenment, and as a forerunner of the French Revolution. It is one of the most important political pieces of the global theatrical repertoire, upon which the famous opera of the same name by Mozart was based. At the same time it is a frenetic comedy blessed with singular dramatic qualities, which serve as the cornerstone for this ensemble performance built on improvisation, music and dance.
