Stathis Livathinos and his company dare to approach CARMEN, using not only the libretto of Bizet’s famous opera as a reference point but also the lesser-known novel by Prosper Mérimée which served as its source material. The experimental performance and its dramaturgical treatment is the result of the collaboration between the director and six actors. It will be presented in an outdoor alternative space at 28, Kerameikos Street, in Metaxourgeio, a neighbourhood with cultural peculiarities, an artistically vibrant area in full development, whose unique and idiosyncratic character serves as an additional point of inspiration.
